A new utopic community is arising

Between 6 and 7 May 2012 (depending on locality**) the beta version of www.utopicmusic.com will be launched. It is a new completely free portal dedicated to independent music, released with Creative Commons licenses.

This site will be a geolocated search engine for music addressed to artists, listeners and clubs, with some relevant features of social networking.

Everybody who is interested in music should have the possibility to discover new music, without limits, technological filters or legal bans. Searching must be easy, funny, effective. On UtopicMusic, all artists that will sign in will have the same chances to be listened to by a virtually infinite audience, regardless of the number of “friends” or of the physical place they come from. London, Tokyo, Milan music scenes will be very easily reachable, as well as any small provincial music scene anywhere in the world.

On UtopicMusic it will be possible to create events exactly where they will take place. Any user, either registered or not, will be able to access this useful information without being bombarded with notifications. Listeners can create personal playlists, and also directly influence popularity charts that will gradually appear on the platform, with the increasing number of registered users.

UtopicMusic invites all the musicians to sign in as Artists an upload their own music, by choosing one of the six Creative Commons licenses available

UtopicMusic invites all music lovers to sign in as Listeners and all club or festival owners to sign in as Clubs, seizing the opportunity to create new geolocated events.

Do it again - Japanese songs

The UtopicMusic adventure began in November 12, 2007. Today, after a long time, here is the first published article.

This post is a kind of time machine, with a copy-paste of that short, ancient post, devoted to some magic Japanese artists.

Much time has passed. I had the good fortune to know Manhan (Miura Ichi-go and Hikari Soma) when they came here in Italy less than a year ago. Irurissat have granted his songs in 2007 and Krita Yuga - later in 2008 - sent us a long interview.

I'm looking for these artists again (and all the others of the list!). What are they doing today? Would they like to send me new songs for the UtopicMusic listeners pleasure?

So, I'm doing it again: here is the first UtopicMusic post. It's born again.

Get a spaceship for your ears

New ideas come from embryos, experiments, mixtures.

So, looking for new sounds (I can't stand the boring and boiled ones!), I came across Salon Bruit, a Berlin based open platform for music pioneers.

In the end, here's sometihing more about the Salon Bruit project, taken directly from their website:

Salon Bruit started in 2002 in Berlin as an open platform for international artists of various backgrounds who experiment with sound, art, music and noise in unconventional ways. Regular meetings with Berlin residents and visiting guests led to an increase in our audience, an ever-expanding radius of action and ultimately to the establishment of the nonprofit association Salon Bruit eV. in 2008. Our activities includes concerts, performances, independent radio projects, creative workshops and exhibitions in Berlin and other European cities.

A unique quality of the association is its open, interdisciplinary and independent approach. Our interests lie in the international exchange of ideas and the consequent synergies that this encourages. The emphasis is mostly put on the idea of sharing and networking, which is enhanced by our policy of inviting a mixture of local and visiting artists to the same events. These events take place mostly in the smallest cinema in Berlin, the "Lichtblick Kino". A renowned independent cinema in the old eastern part of the city. Most of this is documented and some of it played locally on air when the occasion arises. Salon Bruit's roots are deeply entwined with local Free Radio scene in Berlin. Past collaborative projects have been Ersatzradio, RadioRiff, Reboot.FM, radioherbst, Mikro.FM, Dazwischenfunken in Potsdam, Funkwelle and most recently Herbstradio ( ...)
