The tracklist we are going to create today is the most difficult at all, for us. This is so because we are from Italy, and we would like to try to look at its scene from an external point of view. We'll try to do our best when choosing the (more or less) unsigned artists to place in this post. We hope the result will be worth-listening!
MorningPaper - Favourite song: A rabbit on the seashore
A great experimental project, made of reversed guitars, light electronics and delicate glitch. I knew this song by chance some two years ago. Well, it impressed me immediately. I'm really glad I've found the way to help it being listened to.
Feral Children - Favourite song: Thru crop fields
I like this song for its title, its sound, and for the "post-bucolic" atmosphere it provokes. Expecially the title, in my opinion, is perfect for it. The "experimental" italian scene, which is often quite unknown, is everything but poor. They (and MorningPaper as well) are a good example of it, no doubt.
The big sound of country music - Favourite song: Lord what a morning
Hands, feet, knees, mouth and heart. This is the mix that this guy proposes. OneManDeadBand, as he says. The result is a project that talks to the interiors of the listener. Brave music for curious ears.
Vancouver - Favourite song: Jennifer
Can I call them post-pop? I think this mix of sometimes long-delayed, sometimes riffin' guitars, rich arrangements and striking voice melodies could be defined this way. Anyway, "Jennifer" is a potential radio hit, no doubt.
No Seduction - Favourite song: The little song of Yes & No
Flaming garages, sharp guitars, corrosive lyrics, baseball-bat played drums, hammering basslines, and some techno bases here and there... A personal riot that is able to infect almost everyone. But there's some seduction in their music... liars!
Thank you for the drum machine - Favourite song: Ghost in da party
An Italian band that has nothing to envy to the famous new-wavy British ones. Saturday night rock DJ sets, I think you'll have to deal with this drum-machine, sooner or later.
Dradder - Favourite song: Intro
A "self made man" (a definition that is so sad for the Italians who are interested in politics!) who demonstrates what talent, if well supported by will and patience, can produce! This intro is quite more trancy and psychedelic than the other "harder" (but equally interesting) tracks. Anyway, I suggest to listen also to "opt02" and "strabstrakt"... A "continuous evolution", as he says, which is clearly perceptible all along his music.
Imo - Favourite song: Notturno subarmonico.
Cosmic dance music. Space keyboards on an obsessive beat background. Songs that do not need too much words in order to be described. Psycho-dance for trip-oriented minds.
Il riso degli stolti - Favourite song: Qualcuno dice al caso
Elegance. Acoustic sounds. Intimist lyrics. Guitars and bows. Piano and voice. Music that is passionate and calm at the same time.
Giovanni Santese - Favourite song: Come
Jazzy/brazilian chords, smart voices and lyrics, for an easy atmosphere which is such only for the feelings it provokes... Something that can make one feel light. Clever simplicity.
That's all for today. Will we return to Italy for a new trip, in the future? Who knows...
