American Lo-fi

Directly from a Steinbeck's book...

Dear guys,

after an August pause, here we are with some fresh, well-hidden-in-the-web music that deserves our and your attention. This time we've found this band called "The Agrarians" from Baltimore, US. They've nails full with earth, and straw carpets under their nude feet. This is the impression you could gain while listening to their acoustic, lo-fi bluesy tunes. Four-track recordings which are perfectly fit to these simply but extremely impressive songs... Don't let the first minutes of the songs mislead you... something almost always happens, before the end of each tune. A drum-machine, an ill guitar arpeggio... The songs you're listening to are from an album called "All Patrol the Alchemist", released in 2007. Their music is available for free (Creative Commons non-commercial), so you can download and listen to their songs by visiting their page on Free Music Archive. Have a look, this is a great band!

Cheers,

Fiorenzo Fuolega

Science Fiction Music

Today I'm going to speak about a Russian duo called Feldmaus (Aka Evgeny Shchukin and Alexander Tochilkin).

As you probably know, I am particularly attracted by some dilated and dreamy atmospheres. But I also love sonic bursts and explosions. If you enjoy these kind of soundscapes, well, in Feldmaus' "Spaces" (Evgeny and Alexander first album) you'll hear all these moods. A delicate but intense wander… togheter with loads of electronic noise, distorted synths and filtered, endless loops...

"Spaces": a quiet summer, a lazy August afternoon... and I'm dragged toward a desert land, where (suddenly) a great industrial city skyline beyond the horizon appear.

Have a lovely trip!

After the storm random selection

We apologize for the technical problem we had in recent days. We had to reconfigure a lot of crazy things ... and we indulged in redesigning our blog.

"Dogana" in English means "customs." Until now I had not found a meaning to this picture, but today it may well symbolize the effort to be in a gray place, being at the same time hoping to reach another place, different and probably better. We call it a better place because it tells something about us.

Maybe we are reaching dangerous customs. And yes. At the end of our journey we might find an equal place. Gray and dark as night... But hey, maybe it won't happen!

I do not know if and how the music of so many unknown artists could be of interest to a large number of people. But surely in this globalized world there are many unknown artists that deserve our attention. Here, randomly, you're listening to some of them...

All the very best!
